It'll be interesting, no doubt, to see how the service changes under Comcast's ownership. Unlike Rob, I'm not willing to disregard the service altogether simply because of ownership. I'm still finding value. If that changes, then further evaluation will be necessary.

I'm curious if anyone else feels as strongly as Rob on this one.

I have heard and seen many benefits to Plaxo. Now that Comcast owns the outfit can one expect a fee to be added for the service soon? Is the service worthy of a fee, if so how much?

good stuff! I agree with your points, but I would have placed #6 at #1. As a geek-type, the portability of Plaxo is critical. I've switched my primary operating system from Windows to Linux, which meant leaving ACT! and Outlook. Others are leaving Windows for Macs and facing similar issues. Knowing your contacts are in a portable format and location allows folks to make personal computing changes with confidence.

I can give you one reason not to use Plaxo, and it's the reason I deleted my account: it's owned by Comcast. By entering your information, you are giving Comcast all of your contact information and also all of the contact information of everyone in your address book.

All good reasons, but my favourite is the automatic synchronisation. I know that if I update the Apple address book on my home Mac, or Outlook on my work PC, or on my Blacberry, Plaxo will spot the changes and synchronise between all my devices, even my old-style iPod! It's kind of like having Apple's MobileMe for free :)

I love Plaxo too. I've been using it since it was beta and have enjoyed its steady evolution and wide acceptance. Countless online services utilize Plaxo's API to provide access to new member's address books to help make adding friends even easier. I keep hearign rumors that Google is working on a plaxo type feature for their gmail contacts but nothing ever shows up. We'll see what develops after the Comcast acquisition of Plaxo. Some fear the end of Plaxo's innovation while others think it is poised for greater success. We shall see.
Glad to see people still excited about it and writing about it. Good stuff.
