Thomas Nelson – Core Values
Over the last several months I’ve been learning about Thomas Nelson by reading the tweets and posts of Michael Hyatt, President & CEO. I’m not sure how the folks at Thomas Nelson order their core values, as I’ve lifted them from the graphic (right). Here’s how I would order them (actually 4 and 5 are a toss up):
- Honoring God
- Serving Others
- World Class Talent
- Focus & Discipline
- Collaboration
Yesterday as I read Mike’s post about First Responders, I was more convinced than ever that the people at Thomas Nelson, like the people at Zappos, do far more than give Lip Service to their core values. They get it!
As I watched the video, a couple of comments stood out to me:
“The people who do this embody the core values of the organization.”
- Jim Thomasson, Thomas Nelson Human Resources“What you need to appreciate is what a rare thing this actually is…Thomas Nelson has taken an enormous investment in keeping people safe and healthy in the workplace.”
- Amy Green, American Red Cross
So what about you? When have you observed people who have embodied an organization’s core values? Have you experienced a company’s rare commitment to core values? If so, share your story in the comments section.
