People want to do good. TOMS Shoes gets it. Watch the video below and see if you agree.

TOMS gives a pair of shoes to a child in need. One for One.

Here are my observations from the video:

  1. It’s more about putting other people ahead of you.
  2. Showing hugs and smiling children (or how your customers’ help is changing anyone’s life) is a good thing.
  3. People want to be a part of something that is good.
  4. Video captures emotion. “This is the greatest thing ever.” (even in the rain)
  5. In the last 6 months, we just gave away 8,000 pair of shoes. Numbers are good (especially when accompanied with emotion).
  6. Starting a company? Incorporate giving in what you do.
  7. Since May 2006, TOMS has given away more (not “over”) than 130,000 (big numbers are even better) pair of shoes (it gets better) to children in need (here’s the clincher) through the purchase of caring customers. (Someone in TOMS marketing gets it.)
