Gloves in ChairA new year can seem rather daunting. Resolutions made in good faith too often fall by the wayside. At least that’s sometimes my pattern. Maybe you can relate as well.

Enter “Three Words.”

Last year I came across Chris Brogan’s Three Words theory. It made so much sense to me that I came up with my own Three Words for 2009. I used those words to guide my schedule and help clarify my work and personal life.

Last month as I began to ponder my three words for 2010, the first two came to me rather quickly:

  • Glove
  • Temple

I had a little trouble with the final word. Until I read Hope got a Cookbook by Jon Swanson. That was it! Like Julie & Julia (which is in my Netflix queue), 2010 is the year for me to begin cooking, earnestly. So, my third word for 2010 is – trumpet fanfare please:

  • Chef

In the coming days, I’ll unpack each of these words for you – and for me. But for now, I wanted to…cook.
