Carol, one thing I have learned is that people always disappoint us. When we adjust our expectations and rely on God, we are less prone to disappointments. Thankfully, God is with us, even during our pain. Or maybe especially during our pain.

I have been married to my high school sweet heart 43 years as of December 23, 2009 and we dated 4 years before we married, so I cannot relate to losing the love of my life.

But I have had an experience where I started a networking group with 3 other women that I thought were wonderful friends, only to realize that I needed to drop out of the networking group because one of these ladies had real issues with me and there was such an undercurrent that I felt it was in the best interest of the group for me to resign. My personality is such that I am a peacemaker and do not have a clue how to be coy nor do I want to be. It really hurt me to leave the group and not to have heard from the other ladies that helped me get the group going, But as lonely as I felt leaving the group, I have had to trust that God had a better plan for me and my time and efforts. Humans are just that - human and sinful and hurtful - even if they don't mean to be. I am trying to go on with my efforts and pray for "her" and for it not to hurt me anymore.
