How Do You Want to Be Known and What Can A Google Analytics Keyword Search Can Reveal?
Yesterday Kathy Richards wrote an engaging post, “Google Analytics Keyword Searches – A Public Apology.” When I read her post and all the fun comments, I thought I would check to see what my own keywords revealed so I could join in on the fun. I fully expected to find a host of random/funny words in my Analytics Report.
My Entrance Keywords:
culturesmith facebook settings teens
culture smith consulting
culturesmith
culture smith
culturesmith consulting
cheryl smith (I’m sure some folks were disappointed, given the other famous Cheryl Smith is a dead porn star)
john chandler huddle groups
cheryl facebook
cheryl smith consulting
cheryl smith facebook
culture consulting
smith consulting
smith culture
This list tells me that, other than Facebook, I’m not all that successful in getting my content (social media, business, divorce, family, faith) to show up in keyword searches. The biggest struggle I’ve had since I started blogging has been figuring out where my sweet spot is, and then sticking to that area. I’ve spent some time during these last few weeks (since surgery), thinking about niche and direction.
I’m reminded of some wise words from my friend Jon Swanson, in response to this post about expectations here on my blog. He asked me some great clarifying questions (Jon is a great asker) about where I am currently (or in February) vs. what I want to be known for in the future. The truth is, I guess I’m still processing.
And I’m thinking about Stephen Covey’s “Begin with the end in mind.”And wondering how I tie it all together.
What about you? What Keywords bring people to your site? And perhaps more importantly, how do you want to be known?
